Games that cure* my depression

*this is not a cure it merely hides the symptoms while experiencing high levels of escapism as I romance random men in fantasy worlds, living perfect lives. The depression soon returns along with a sense of lonliness as you realise you have been single 19 years and you can’t even be the fun, hot, rich, single aunt yet, becuase none of your sisters have had children yet and your also not hot, rich or fun, but you are single so woah your almost halfway there.

Stardew Valley

The most recent game to occupy my brain, and perhaps the happiest and most damn adorable game I have yet to come across, picture Animal Crossing for people to poor for a nintendo switch, this game offers hours of entertainment, as well as many more to be added with a dedicated and rather impressive modding community having developed hundreds of things to add to your game. The game follows you as a new member to a small town whre you have just inherited your late grandfathers farm. Learn to farm, fish, mine, hunt and forage all while trying to figure out your fav townies favourite things so that when you give them a gift they don’t scowl at you and say “this is a horrible gift, what were you thinking? Now I have to dispose of it.” Thanks Elliot but I specifically remember you saying that you just bought some nice sap from the shop, so I’m sorry you did’t like it when I gave it to you as a gift. This game also only cpsts $16 on steam so it’s good buy, won’t bankrupt you like Sims eventually will. I will say that the best mod that I’ve found has been Stardew Valley expanded and would definitely recommend it, as it adds so much to game play and the town, and also I would recommend getting dialogue expansion mods for any characters you want to befriend or pursue as they don’t have many options and it gets a bit boring after a while with the same 5 conversations being had.

The sims 4

It’s iconic it’s well known and it cannot be beaten as the game that you spend $300 on just to play it once every 4 months for 12 hours straight and then forget it exists all over again. But that being said this genuinely is a great game and works just fine with or without all of the expansion packs. And of course if you don’t want to sell your kidney and the working part of your brain for the expansions, there are once again always mods to add a bit of variety. I would recomend The Sims resourse for any visual mods such as clothes, hair, furniture and the like, as well as the eyelash mos that I can’t remember what it’s called but just search sims 3-D lashes and your sure to find it. I feel as though sims is pretty self explanatory, everyone and his donkey knows what it is so I guess I’ll just go and get some fun ol’ images of my game.

Dragon age Inquisition

This game has slightly less good vibes than the past two, but if your looking for a game where upon you’re a bad ass bitch with a sword (or axe, crossbow, magic staff), this is the one. Follow the quests to slay dragons, defend castles and romance random NPC’s, all of which are worthy choices except for Solace, we don’t solace he seems moody, and sexist and all about that patriarchy. Be prepared to lose many days of your life as obsession is guaranteed, esspecially when you decide you wanna kill that first dragon so you can get a dragon tooth and go and romance IronBull, such a needy fella, why a damn dragon tooth. This game also has very easy and customisable controls and of course an option to play the game in casual mode so that you won’t die every ten minutes. The game is available on origin or steam and is part of the EA play subscription for only $4.99 per month.

Farmer’s dynasy

compared to the rest this one has pretty shocking graphics, (in terms of the people picture Sims 3 Nancy Landgrab walking around everywhere), but it is still an amazing and by far my favourite farm simulator game. This one like stardew valley follows an unexperienced farmer moving onto their dead grandfathers dilapidated farm, trying to fix it up and make a profit. Unlike Stardew valley Farmer’s dynasty is strictly farming, so there is a much greater empasis on the framing process and it feels a lot more like a farm as oppossed to just an oversized garden. The game also offers relationships with the townies that can be found all over the map in town or at their homes. I have found that starting relationships within this game is quite a bit harder than the other games, probably just due to the fact that you spend so much time doing all of the fram related stuff at the beginning, before you get big tractors and machinery that make it much faster, and so you don’t have time to go and pursue them. This game also only permits you to be the one charcter, you will be a middle-aged caucasian man only capable of entering cis relationships, but thats fine, the games still a vibe.

Howrse

A free to play online horse breeding game, that is every horse girls dream come true. This iconic game though seemingly lacking compared to the others on the list, will keep you thoroughly entertained for at least a solid hour every 6 months or so, and everytime you return you will convince yourself that you’ll play everyday so your horses all go into 30 day boarding only for it to be a waste of money. But in all seriousness that game offers so many differnt breeds and coats for your horses as well as the chance to train and compete with your horses, start a profittable business, and complete a series of ever-changing side quests along the way. I recommend playing the international version, just because the horses have higher levels and greater skill values, though this could also be a good reason to just play your own countries version as the horses will all be cheaper and it will be less difficult to start off with your low level horses.
